Press Release: Post Cannes Film Festival News - Finnish Myth Film Unveals First Cast Members

For creator Veli-Heikki Uusitupa, the project has been 35 years in the making, but for an entire civilisation, the Bear Clan history began millennia ago. Delving into the same Finnish mythology that inspired Anglo-Saxon and literature professor J.R.R. Tolkien to write his master epic, The Lord of the Rings, this English-language project is inspired by age-old legends largely shared by other Scandinavian cultures and the Estonians. However, whilst the language barrier made it impossible for Tolkien to delve into the original Finnish writings and the age-old, but still existing, oral storytelling tradition, Veli-Heikki has pulled off a daunting feat by researching every single fact, illustration, story and art object left behind by the people who once revelled in telling the greatest of stories to boisterous crowds and erudite scholars alike. Tolkien only used Finnish to make up a fictional language, but both the Bear Clan film and series will use old Finnish as the basis for spells, songs and the Elven tongue. With the probable premier set for the 100th Finnish Independence Jubilee Day, on the 6th of December 2017, the Bear Clan will make for a great, authentic audio-visual spectacle that is sure to blow your mind.

In order to present this multi-million dollar project to the world, we will be hosting a press day in England’s capital city. The date will be announced soon and journalists who react early to this press release will be granted priority access, so please do reply to this message and feel free to ask any questions, turn in interview request or send us comments on the press release as soon as possible! Locations in other countries may also be announced soon, so do tell us where you’re from as well!
Feature Film, TV Series & Tabletop Game
The Bear Clan is conceived as both a feature film (The Bear Clan – A Mythical Adventure) and a television series (Kalevala – The Return of the Golden Age) set to rival the best-known fantasy productions. As talks with producers, investors and production companies are ongoing, we can’t divulge whether this myth epic will first be coming to theatres near you or to your television screens. Preliminary deals are in place for funding, but more news will be shared after talks with different interested parties wrap up. As of now, the production is still willing to talk with investors, movie fund professionals, producers and companies about possible avenues to explore.
The first British tabletop game companies have also already approached the Bear Clan team in order to talk about the release of a roleplaying game (and possibly also card game and/or board game) set in the same world as the film and TV series. As soon as our film and/or TV budget is in place, creator Veli-Heikki will resume talks about a possible simultaneous release with the game.
